Save the trees

Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Sarah for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday at Willard Avenue Park in Bethesda, MD.

Meet at the entrance to the Park at 5304 Willard Avenue (corner of Willard and River Road). There is free parking on the Park side of street as you head down Willard Avenue towards River Road. DO NOT park across the street from the Park. It is residential parking there and you will be ticketed.

Weather policy: We usually hold Weed Warrior Workdays as long as there is not pouring rain or deep snow. However, if the weather is deemed dangerous for outdoor activities, we will cancel. Cancellation will be posted on the Little Falls Watershed Alliance website one hour before the event start time. Contact info@LFWA.org for more information.

Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gardening-type gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.

This event is capped at 10 Montgomery Parks volunteers.

This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers under 16 are not permitted to use sharp tools (including pruners or loppers), so if you are under 16, you will rip plants out of the ground, pry vines off trees with a flathead screwdriver, or make plant debris piles.  Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a pre-registered, responsible adult.
