WHEATON, Md.— June is bursting with energy, color, and celebration at Montgomery Parks. From Pride Month festivities and retro ice shows to a birthday bash for a historical hero, there’s something for everyone this month.

Celebrate Pride with us

Pride Lake Tour by Kayak | June 20 | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Black Hill Discovery Center

Glide into Pride on a scenic kayak tour of Little Seneca Lake. Connect with nature and fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community as you spot local wildlife, from herons and turtles to the occasional bald eagle.  Boats, paddles, and life vests will be provided (or bring your own Type III or IV PFD). Basic paddling experience required. $30 per person ($29, Friends of Black Hill)

LGBTQ+ Crafting Night | June 27 | 7-8:30 p.m.
Meadowside Nature Center

Get creative under the stars. We’ll take a nature stroll to forage responsibly, then craft nature-inspired art while enjoying refreshments and discussing queer ecology. $10 per person.

Pride on the Pontoon | June 30 | 7–8:30 p.m.
Black Hill Discovery Center

Wrap up Pride Month with a sunset pontoon cruise. Relax and connect with the LGBTQIA+ community as we search for beavers, deer, otters, heron, and osprey along the lake. $8 per person ($7, Friends of Black Hill)

Skating the ‘80s: Cabin John Spring Ice Show | June 8 | 3:30–6:30 p.m.
Cabin John Ice Skating Rink

Dust off your leg warmers and jam while watching our talented skaters, from beginner to competitive, dazzle with spins and jumps to ‘80s beats. Free.

Etch and Sip Wine Night | June 13 | 4:30-6 p.m.
Meadowside Nature Center

Sip a glass of wine as you etch custom nature-themed glassware. A great way to unwind and tap into your artistic side while learning fun ecosystem facts. $20 per person.

Josiah Henson Birthday Celebration Family Day | June 14 | 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park (Parking is located at Wall Local Park at 5900 Executive Boulevard, North Bethesda)

Celebrate the legacy of abolitionist Josiah Henson with a day of family-friendly fun. Games, hands-on activities, story time, and more. A perfect way to kick off Juneteenth Week. Free.

Shakespeare Beyond | June 17, June 24 | 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park (June 17) Rain date June 18
North Four Corners Local Park (June 24) Rain date June 25

Enjoy a performance of The Comedy of Errors, Hon! for a fresh twist on a timeless Shakespeare classic. This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Foodie Fridays: Farming: Inputs and Production | June 27 | 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park (Parking is located at Wall Local Park at 5900 Executive Boulevard, North Bethesda)

Dig into local food culture with local farmer Marcey Guramatunhu of Chirandu Farm at the first Foodie Friday of the season. Enjoy dinner, drinks, and conversation about how our food gets from farm to table. $15-$20 per person.
