Future Civic Green
The forthcoming Capital Crescent Civic Green will serve as a space to gather with friends and neighbors in the downtown Bethesda Row District. This approximate 0.3-acre urban park will be a dynamic green space and community hub.
Conveniently accessible by walking or biking along the Capital Crescent Trail, this park will feature a Purple Line station entrance, making it a central destination in downtown Bethesda. Several parking garages and bus stops are just a short walk away, ensuring easy access for all.
Background
Positioned in the heart of Bethesda at the crossing of Bethesda and Woodmont avenues the Capital Crescent Civic Green, proposed in the 2017 Bethesda Downtown Plan, will be surrounded by restaurants, retail shops, a movie theater, and office spaces—bringing natural activity and engagement to the space. Its strategic location fosters an inviting atmosphere for people to relax, socialize, and enjoy Bethesda’s energy.
Project Status
Montgomery Parks acquired property on this site to accommodate the park and Purple Line station. The site is currently being used as a staging area for the construction of the Purple Line and related infrastructure. The park facility planning process will begin in the near future. Construction will begin at a later date when the park portion of the site is no longer needed for staging of the Purple Line and bicycle parking area construction.
