Weed Warrior Workday at Cabin John Local Park

Celebrate Earth Day with a Garlic Mustard Pull

Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Mark for an Earth Day Event in one of Montgomery County’s gems:Cabin John Local Park (7401 MacArthur Boulevard, Cabin John, MD).  Meet at the Cabin John Creek trailhead near the playground!

We will be working to remove invasive garlic mustard plants that are outcompeting natives and causing problems for the native wildlife. You’ll learn about the local ecology and help the native plants and animals that make this park their home. If you want to help on other days in April too, please email Mark!

Please wear clothes that can get dirty (rain gear as necessary), including long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toed shoes. Bug spray may be useful. Bring gardening gloves and extra trash bags if you have them. Gloves and bags are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.

This event is capped at 20 people.

This event is rain or shine — but will be canceled in case of high winds or lightning. We will email all pre-registrants if the event is canceled.

This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. No hand tools are required for this event. Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a pre-registered, responsible adult.
