Calling All Little Musicians and Performers
On May 31 at Cabin John Regional Park (7400 Tuckerman Lane, Bethesda, MD 20817), join Montgomery Parks from 10 to 11 am for a Parks Playhouse Junior event—live performance by Happenstance Theater.
Make sure to prepare for each event by bringing your sunny day gear and blankets or lawn chairs for viewing. Make it a mid-morning picnic by bringing along your favorite snacks and treats to munch on while you enjoy the show. This performance is for children of all ages.
Parks Playhouse Junior performances will be rolling throughout the summer on both weekday and weekend mornings from 10 to 11 am. Check the Parks Playhouse Junior event page to see the full lineup.
About the Performance

Under the artistic co-direction of talented artists Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell, Happenstance Theater was founded in 2006 as a company committed to devising, producing, and touring poetic theater. Their ensemble is comprised of eclectically skilled artists who craft all aspects of their performances from concept, to dialogue and music, to costumes and set pieces. With the simplest means – humor, whimsy, music, physical comedy – Happenstance seeks to elevate the moment the performers and audience meet, to close the gap between imagination and reality, to create a space where the audience feels empowered to become the performer.
PREPOSTEROUS! is a sophisticated-yet-ridiculous, family-friendly, pocket-sized theatrical clown circus. A quintet of charming vintage clowns become circus animals, transform into a human calliope, do the classic circus mirror routine with a twist, perform a number of preposterous “entrées“, make live music and sound effects, and execute a very satisfying slow-motion number involving a pie!
