WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks is looking for volunteers interested in participating in the MLK Weekend of Service January 17-20, 2025. Americans are encouraged to volunteer on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday to honor Dr. King’s life and legacy and to improve their communities.
Opportunities to volunteer this year include Weed Warrior events to eliminate non-native invasive plant species from parks; and trash cleanups to beautify parks and streams. Registration is required to participate in the volunteer events. Visit the Montgomery Parks volunteer webpage to sign-up for a MLK Day weekend project or other volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
“Montgomery Parks is fortunate to have thousands of volunteers who help us maintain our streams and parkland. We couldn’t do the job without them.” said Molly Gallant, Montgomery Parks volunteer services coordinator. “MLK weekend is a great time for them to get involved and bring new volunteers into the fold working to better our communities.”
