Parking at Sligo Creek Fest  

Accessible parking is at MacDonald Knolls Early Childhood Center at 10611 Tenbrook Drive,
Silver Spring. 

Additional Parking can be found at Forest Knolls Elementary School and Glen Haven Elementary School. You can expect a short 10-15 minute walk from these locations.  

You’re encouraged to walk, bike or ride to the event! Bike parking is available at parks nearby including Argyle Local Park, Kemp Mill Urban Park and others. Details about bike parking and public transportation are available online.  

Stay Alert – People may be riding their bike along Sligo Creek Parkway during the event!

Getting Around the Event

We have a wheelchair accessible shuttle cart to help you get from your vehicle to the different activities at the event.

You can get on the shuttle cart at the MacDonald Knolls Early Childhood Center parking lot and it will take you closer to the event between the red and blue zones. When you are ready to return to your car, go back to the shuttle stop between the red and blue zones to get back on the shuttle cart. 

There are several fully accessible paved trails throughout the park.

Performers and Mascots

Our mascot, Otus the Owl and Stilt Walkers that will be walking around the event. These are friendly people who are wearing a costume. You can choose to say hello, take a picture with them, or walk away from them when you see him.

At the main stage and the kids’ stage there will be bands playing music which could be loud. You may want to use headphones if you don’t like the loud sounds when going near these stages.

Additional Activities

You will be able to participate in more passive activities as well like playing in the adventure playground and saying hello to our Park Police horses.

Bathrooms

Accessible porta johns are in the Green Zone and the Blue Zone. Porta johns do not flush and there are no dryers. Hand sanitizer will be available. Hand washing stations will be available in the Green Zone.

Food Concessions

These vendors will be selling food and drinks. Most of the food vendors will also be selling water to drink.

Sensory Retreat Tent

“There will be a lot of people at the park on the day of the event. If you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, please visit our “Sensory Retreat Tent” that will be located near the bathrooms. The tent is a quiet space where you can relax, play with our fidgets and get away from the larger group.

We encourage you to bring your own noise reduction headphones if you have them.

Keep our Park Clean

Help take care of our park by using trash cans and recycling bins appropriately.
