Parks Playhouse Junior: Marsha and the Positrons

Calling All Little Musicians and Performers

On Friday, June 21, at Falls Road Local Park (12600 Falls Road, Potomac, MD 20854), join Montgomery Parks from 10 to 11 am for a Parks Playhouse Junior event. Join us for a live performance by Marsha of Marsha and the Positrons. Marsha and the Positrons is a DC-based kindie (kids + indie) band that plays fun songs about science and how the world works with positive social messages!

Make sure to prepare for each event by bringing your sunny day gear and blankets or lawn chairs for viewing. Make it a mid-morning picnic by bringing along your favorite snacks and treats to munch on while you enjoy the show. This performance is for children of all ages.

Parks Playhouse Junior performances will be rolling throughout the summer on both weekday and weekend mornings from 10 to 11 am. Check the Parks Playhouse Junior event page to see the full lineup.

 

About the Show

Marsha of Marsha and the Positrons in a polka dot red shirt

Marsha and the Positrons shows are playful, educational, and entertaining for kids and grown-ups! Former cognitive neuroscientist, Marsha Goodman-Wood, on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, plays clever original songs mixing science facts with messages about kindness and friendship. Marsha always brings her positive energy and playfulness to the stage. Expect an interactive show where audiences can sing and dance along and make fun memories experiencing the joy of live music!

The band’s latest album, Energetic (2023), is receiving rave reviews and has won a 2023 NAPPA (National Parenting Products) Award. Positronic (2018), won a prestigious Parents’ Choice Foundation Gold Award, a 2019 NAPPA Award and various songwriting awards. Gravity Vacation (2012), won a number of songwriting awards and a WAMMIE Nomination for Best Children’s Music Recording.

Seating

  • Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and picnic blankets for seating at all Parks Playhouse Junior events. Please do not bring hammocks, portable pavilion tents, or pop-up tents.

What to Bring

  • In addition to bringing your own seating, attendees are encouraged to prepare for the summer heat by wearing sunscreen, bringing a hat or head covering, and bringing their own water.

Pets

  • Pets are allowed at all Parks Playhouse Junior performances. Pets must remain on a leash and in their owner’s control while on park property.
