Background

Edgewood Neighborhood Park is one of the candidate sites based on the Community Garden Site Suitability Study to introduce a community garden program in the area. The flat open space by the park entrance and the parking lot has convenient access to water. The centralized location and proximity to the playground and picnic shelter will enhance overall park uses and site security. The added garden program will offer gardening opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities.

The recommended garden will provide 25 to 30 plots within approximately 4,000 square feet of an enclosed area. The plan includes two accessible garden plots, an accessible terrace and walkway, a storage shed, plant debris and compost area, a cistern, a kiosk, site furnishings, fencing, and a gate as well as nearby ADA parking improvements and stormwater mitigation.
