This project provides a new athletic area on a 41-acre addition to the Northwest Branch Recreational Park on Norbeck Road, just north of the Northwest Branch Golf Course. The property was previously part of the Llewellyn Fields subdivision.
This project was initiated by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to provide replacement for athletic fields removed for MD 200 Inter County Connector related construction. SHA and M-NCPPC developed a concept plan for development of the park which was approved by the Planning Board on January 21, 2010, Phase 1, which includes 5 ballfields, parking and reforestation, was completed in 2015 by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). Future phases will be designed and constructed by M-NCPPC and may include landscaping, ballfield lighting, irrigation, fencing, artificial turf field surfacing, trails, playground, picnic shelter/restroom buildings and additional parking.
Additional phases of the project will be constructed when funding becomes available.
Opportunities for public participation are shown below. Links to review meeting notes and Planning Board memos will be attached to each applicable calendar event as it is scheduled and completed.
