Birds, beer, yoga, and playtime! We have six suggested activities in Parks’ Picks for this weekend Friday, May 13, to Sunday, May 15!

Beer Garden CANCELLED (Updated: Friday, May 13)

UPDATE: This event is cancelled, due to rain. Raise a glass to the weekend at Acoustics and Ales! The outdoor beer garden comes to Germantown Town Center Urban Park on Friday, May 13, 5 pm to 7 pm, with local craft beer, food, games, and live music. Yoga

Stretch and find your center at Yoga in the Park. The free program to mark Mental Health Awareness Month is Saturday, May 14, 9 am, at Josiah Henson Museum and Park. If there’s rain, the session moves indoors to the museum.

Celebration POSTPONED (Update: Friday, May 13)

UPDATE: This event is rescheduled to Saturday, May 21, at 11 am. Celebrate the with us on Saturday, May 14, at 11 am. Join us for the ribbon reopening of Edith Throckmorton Neighborhood Park cutting ceremony and light refreshments. The small park is packed with amenities, including two playgrounds, table tennis, natural seating area, and more! Free!

Playtime

Black Hill Nature Programs offers Play Day in the Park for families with children six months to three years of age on Friday, May 13, 11 am to 2 pm. Stop by the visitor center and pick up prompts to engage your little one with the nature play areas around the facility.

Birdwatching

Looking for a new hobby? Brookside Nature Center’s Beginning Birding for Every Body introduces you to birding with proper use of binoculars and field guides, as well as birdwatching techniques. The program on Saturday, May 14, 10 am, takes place on an accessible boardwalk.

UPDATE: This event is cancelled, due to rain. Help staff at Locust Grove Nature Center keep track of birds during Migratory Bird Watch for Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 14, at 4 pm. This free program is just for families and best for ages eight and older. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from one of our naturalists.
