CANCELLED: Montgomery Parks hosts the Parks Ale Trail

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will host Parks Ale Trail on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. This free, family-friendly festival features a nearly three-mile hike along the trails of Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park, live music, tons of activities for kids, crafts for sale, as well as a beer garden and food from area restaurants available for purchase.  

“We are excited to bring another edition of the Ale Trail to Lake Needwood and Rock Creek Regional Park. It will be a beautiful day to enjoy a hike, live music, local beer, and food before St. Patrick’s Day,” said Michael Coppersmith, director of Montgomery Parks Activation Program. “We can’t promise that anyone will catch a leprechaun or find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, but you can be assured to have a great time.”

Guests must provide valid identification to purchase alcohol.

The main festival area will offer beer from True Respite Brewing and food selections from El Cumpa, Catalyst Hot Dogs, Corned Beef King, A Taste of Montreal and Churros, Inc., and music from Capital Effect for attendees to enjoy. The mid-hike beer garden will feature beer from Waredaca, live music from Patty Reese Band, lawn games and snacks from Just Pralines.

Kids will have an opportunity to climb trees for a bird’s eye view of the lake and park, with the support of Montgomery Parks tree climbing crews and bounce on inflatable rides and games. Montgomery Park’s mobile science field station, Nature on Wheels will be onsite to lead kids and adults in fun, free nature activities. The Parks’ Archaeology Program will be on the scene at the mid-hike area with a kid’s activity. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed.
