REGISTRATION FULL– Weed Warrior Workday in Little Falls Stream Valley (Massachusetts Ave) – MLK WEEK

Join us for the Martin Luther King Jr. Week of Service and save the trees. We are excited to continue the tradition of honoring Dr. King through service.

Join Celia, Weed Warrior Supervisor, for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday in Little Falls Stream Valley at Mass Ave in Bethesda, MD. We will meet at the park entrance at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Little Falls Parkway. (There is a gravel parking lot across from the entrance for parking.  Plug ‘Westbard Avenue’ into a GPS and follow that to Mass Avenue, then take 2 lefts to the parking lot). Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.

This event is capped at 10 people.

This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers under 16 are not permitted to use tools, so if you are under 16, please email the Weed Warrior supervisor ahead of time to see whether they will have meaningful work for you to do.  Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

*If you or anyone in your household are sick, waiting for Covid test results, and/or have tested positive for Covid (regardless of vaccination status) you are not eligible to volunteer at this time.* Please email the WW Volunteer Coordinator if you need a copy of the current Weed Warrior Workday COVID protocols.
