Postponed to January 22: Park Cleanup at Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park – MLK Week of Service

Due to the inclement weather in the forecast, this program has been postponed to Saturday, January 22, 1 – 3pm. We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you at the new date & time!

Join us in recognizing Martin Luther King Jr. Day through a volunteer park cleanup at Takoma-Piney Branch Local Park. Help beautify your community green spaces, keep litter out of our streams, and protect wildlife.  Children under 14 years old must have a registered parent/guardian with them.  SSL hour forms will be provided at each event!

When you get to the VSO webpage, click “Schedule” and then sign up for this shift. More details, including the exact meeting location, will be emailed to you after you register. If you already have an account in the database, email volunteercleanups@montgomeryparks.org .   Please don’t create a new account!

We will provide bags, gloves and trash grabbers. Wear close-toed shoes/boots, long pants, and clothes that can get dirty. Bring a reusable water bottle!

Additional details will be sent as we get closer to the service weekend.

Covid Guidelines:
– Volunteers must be fully vaccinated
– Volunteers must be registered to participate (this takes care of the covid forms required)
– Volunteers are not required to wear a mask during the event unless they cannot keep 6 ft. apart
– Anyone feeling sick or in recent contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, may not volunteer at the event(s) assigned.
