Asters and Goldenrods: Autumns’ Pollinator Banquet

Instructor Heather Holm, biologist, pollinator conservationist, and award-winning author Asters and goldenrods are critical late summer and autumn forage for many types of pollinators, including native bees. Ms. Holm explains the nutritional components of the nectar and pollen of asters and goldenrods and their importance to the survival of native bees and migratory pollinating insects such as butterflies. Showcasing a number of aster and goldenrod species, she describes how to plan for a continuous succession of blooms in the garden.
